Abstract

The body horror emerged as a subgenre of horror cinema and one of its greatest exponents is David Cronenberg. In his films, the human body was never designed as a perfect machine. For the Canadian director, the body is the receptacle of all the ills of all the misfortunes that might narrow it down to an empty shell, anodyne, as either the metamorphosis that engenders fear and puts the body in check. From this premise, and having mainly the French discourse theories as a theoretical foundation, we will see how the body is configured by guidelines of the grotesque metamorphosis that governs the annihilation in The fly 1986, as well as the authorial body that focuses on reflection monstrosity as the failure of bodily perfection.
